Spoonboy | The Dispossessed

by tom johnson

Sadly drawing his Spoonboy project to a close following this (rather comprehensive) run of UK dates (see below), David Combs has unveiled the new video to ‘The Dispossessed‘ – one of the stand-out moments from last years split LP with fellow pop purveyors Colour Me Wednesday.

Though Combs’ has a bunch of new projects on the go – most of which you can read about in more detail here – his Spoonboy work will be much missed, blessed, as it is, with a gratifyingly addictive back catalogue. Nowhere is that gift for writing short, sharp pop songs better detailed than on ‘The Dispossessed‘, a track which grows from a measured foreword in to something far more emphatic, complete with eminently quotable (shoutable?) lyrical gambits, ooh-ooh backing vocals and hooks that hammer in your chest like the most vigorous of hearts.

The new video, which we’re premiering below, was shot in DC last year and shows Spoonboy attending a “break-up party” and watching while the relationships crumble around him. Check it out below.

Produced and Directed by William Holloway, David Combs, & Benjamin Epstein
