Having walked many miles in the music industry over the past decade, Jill Lorean today unveils the debut release under her own name, with a six-song mini-album Not Your First. Having initially gained notoriety with her band Sparrow & The Workshop, Jill also played as part of glitter-pop duo BDY_PRTS and been a part of other projects such as Bastard Mountain and, more recently, Broken Chanter.

Not Your First marks a bold leap forward, however, delivering perhaps her most formidable work to-date. Recorded, mixed and produced by Frightened Rabbit’s Andy Monaghan, the six-songs are full of swagger, Jill’s formidable voice wrapping itself into all manner of shapes amid an emphatic backdrop of spiky guitars and powersome drums.

The full EP is released into the world this week and, to tie in with its unveiling, we’re very pleased to share this hypnotic new video for ‘Strawberry Moon’. A punchy, exhilarating couple of minutes, the EP’s opening track is a rabid affair, all crashing drums and untamed vocals, and is accompanied by a video made from a mash up of silent-film era cartoon Felix the Cat and 1970’s nature docs, featuring flower gardens, geysers, volcanoes and icebergs.

Making for a somewhat surreal companion, the inspired piece can be viewed below from today- check it out right now.

Not Your First‘ is out now and available here
