Drawing to a close a project which we first helped to launch back at the end of Summer 2014, NYC’s Dive Index today unveil two new videos from their Lost In The Pressure LP – and we’re premiering the first of them below. Head over to Clash now to read their thoughts on ‘Scars‘.
Featuring Isaiah Gage’s hypnotic lead vocal and the deftly precise piano of Roger Eno, ‘Singing To Bats‘ was always one of the LP’s most compelling moments as his weighty vocal, full of dream-like lyrics, crawls across Will Thomas’ deft compositions. “Stay here and read beside me” Gage implores as the instrumental backing quietly bubbles below the surface, always threatening to rise to the surface but never quite getting there.
The video, too, is suitably darkened, as small bursts of colourful electricity ripple through clouds that quickly depart; little moments of magic lost to, and in, a world that was looking the other way all along. Understated, and all the more beautiful for it, you can check out the new video below right now – and be sure to spend a time with an album that was one of 2014’s most slow-burning achievements.
Taken from the album Lost In The Pressure, out now.
