Tropic Harbour

Glowing Eyes

by tom johnson

When we first covered Tropic Harbour’s debut track, back in August of 2013, we mentioned that he was working on its follow-up and while it’s taken over two years for the fruits of his labour to finally be realised, the wait has certainly been worth it and new track ‘Glowing Eyes‘ is a gleaming addition to his repertoire; a sumptuous bout of dream-pop that unravels in front of your eyes like the most languid of summer days.

Led by a subtle wave of electronica and a repeated guitar line that brings a heightened sense of urgency to the whole piece, Glowing Eyes is shaped by Mark Berg’s grainy, sepia-tinged vocal that lends a sense of unexpected¬†nostalgia to otherwise brighter climes; a underlying sentimentality that makes sense when you learn that Tropic Harbour is described as “a¬†musical outlet created out of necessity for Berg to mentally escape his wintery home city of Edmonton.”

The full album will follow this-coming Autumn – check out the new track below.
