Peddling a message that a number of us will leap behind given the current state of the world, Rebekka Karijord today unveils “The Orbit”, and “the most optimistic song” from her forthcoming new record, which is released on January 27th via Control Freak Kitten Records. While the full record is informed by the three-month-early arrival of her child, the new track, which is premiering below from today, takes a looks at the much wider world that said child was arriving in to and tries to contextualise their place within it.
Led by a buoyant piano, the track is three-and-a-half minutes of sprightly pop music, Karijord’s invigorating gaze matched by her gleaming lead vocal that spreads a glowing sense of importance all over the track as it flows through its almost unwavering landscape. A rousing anthem for the more dispirited amongst us, “The Orbit” finds the Norwegian-born, Stockholn-based artist in exhilirating form – and you can stream it below right now. Here’s what Rebekka herself had to say about the song:
“In a world that right now seems terribly cold and divided, I have chosen to release the most optimistic song on my forthcoming record. “The Orbit” is a song about how all humans inhabiting earth are interconnected. How we are part of something bigger than our own individual aspirations, inheritance and battles; Orbiting around each other, in a some sort of symbiosis that motions in and out of balance.” – Rebekka Karijord
