Released toward the end of this month, Hurry’s Every Little Thought LP has shaping up to be one of the most vital releases of the year thus far, its considerate guitar-pop cutting right through that perfect middle-ground between vintage Teenage Fanclub lamentations and Lame-O Records’ endlessly endearing discography (early Modern Baseball, Thin Lips, The Pooches, et al).
Lead track from the album came in the form of Waiting For You which made good on those Fannies comparisons, but new track Jamie, excitedly unveiled here today, takes the new record in to a space all of its own, adding extra weight and significance with a track that, from its immediate kick-start, feels like one of their most endearing moments of release. The guitars, as always, are purposeful and punctuating, but its the way they wrap the vocal melody in and out of it all, not to mention the underlying melancholy that allows them to find new levels of warmth.
“You’re exotic, but ordinary. I guess neurotic is what best describes me. ‘What are you even doing here’ I keep thinking over and over and over…” they sing with arms wide open, pulling apart the whole thing as they burst in to the track’s memorable, utterly wonderful chorus.
A timely reminder of the glowing power of good ol’ wholesome guitar-pop, you can stream the new track below right now – the full album follows on February 23rd and can be pre-ordered via the links below.
