Moving to LA from her Montana home, nineteen year-old Alaska Reid did so with all the dreams of grandeur that have come before her, only to find herself lost in the search to find home. Such trepidation winds its way in to the music of her new band, the mightily impressive Alyeska, who today follow-up previous track ‘EverGlow’ with a similarly endearing and radiant burst of guitar-pop in the form of new cut ‘Lose My Place’.
Working with producer John Agnello at The Magic Shop in NYC (Dinosaur Jr, Kurt Vile, Sonic Youth, Phosphorescent), the trio recently finished work on their debut album, and the new track, which is premiering below from today, adds further fuel to the fire that is beginning to spark around them, melding Reid’s hardened, compelling lead vocal with a sturdy back-drop of instrumentation; recalling the likes of Forth Wanderers, and perhaps even Angel Olsen, as the song soars through its three-and-a-bit minutes.
The band play at LA’s Resident tomorrow night (Friday 9th November; details below) and you can check out new track “Lose My Place” right here:
