Black Honey | Sleep Forever
by Cora O’Malley
We all have those times when we wish we could go to sleep and never wake up. It’s a dark thing to contemplate, and it requires a similarly dark soundtrack, even when the idea incorporates laying with your lover until the end of time. Such a notion is the sole shaft of light illuminating the gloomy world of newcomers Black Honey, whose debut track ‘Sleep Forever‘ is doing the rounds.
Released into the world to commemorate being signed to Brighton’s Duly Noted Records, the demo, combined with the above promo pic, is all we have to go on for the moment. All we’re sure about is that Black Honey’s vocalist isn’t Lana Del Rey under an assumed name, though considering the timbre of her voice, and the song’s woozy, downbeat sound, the surprising thing is that Miss Grant didn’t get to this idea first – it would definitely fit on the recently-released Ultraviolence. This is a very promising taster, and we hope to see more from this lot soon, biographically-speaking or otherwise.
