Consistently the most rewarding of labels, Glasgow’s Fuzzkill Records continues to spew out brilliant DIY releases like the world is relying on them. True for some of us, I’m sure. The latest release, out this week and streaming for the first time below, is the third in the labels “Now 666” compilation series – and it’s every bit as vital as we’ve come to expect.
A boisterous twenty-two track collection, Volume 3 features unreleased/new tracks by Dune Witch Trails, Sweaty Palms, The Bellybuttons, Mordwaffe, Chump, Home$lice, Joyce Delaney, The Pooches, Odd Law, Asian Babes, and Twin Mirrors, and a whole bunch of choice-picks from some of GFP’s favourites, including the raucous shimmer of Shredd, a slacker-pop gem from Fruit Tones, Lush Purr’s scrappy wistfulness, and much, much, much more.
Of those new tracks, Joyce Delaney continue to compel on the endearing scuffle of “What’s Up Wanda”, Sweaty Palms offer a dark slab of hypno-psych on “The Illusionist”, before The Pooches round the whole thing off in suitably charming fashion with the whimsical dash of colour that is “Whisky”.
