We probably all remember the pro teens; those choice few characters who breezed through otherwise stormy days and years of pre-adulthood, all barrelled-chests and brazen personalities. Phoenix’s band-of-the-same-name might well be regarded in such doe-eyed esteem; new album Accidentally follows swiftly on the heels of 2015’s debut record and once again showcases a band breezing through the supposedly difficult process of writing-recording-releasing.
Streaming from today, new track ‘Goodnight Moon’d‘ is a warped meander; a fleshed-out psych-pop unraveling that makes like some mirage in the heat of the day, confusing and compelling in equal measure and never quite presenting itself in real terms. The vocals bend and twist in to all manner of shapes, while the idiosyncrasies of the instrumentation tend to channel the band’s sprit in to different landscapes again.
Buoyant and brash with the kind of relaxed charm that makes it a worthy addition to this year’s essential summer playlist, you can check it out below right now. The new record arrives next month.
‘Accidentally’ is released on July 22nd, via Broken Circles
