One of the longest-serving bands on Lame-O Records exemplary roster, Scranton, Pennsylvania’s Three Man Cannon will release a brand new full-length record via the label next month, with the nine-song self-titled effort released on March 16th and available to pre-order here from today. Preceding that release, the band are also unveiling a taster of the record today, in the form of beautifully swaying new track “Building Broken Steps” which we’re very pleased to unveil here today.
Released, also, as a standalone 7″ single (here), the new cut is quintessential TMC, floating between laid-back moments of restraint and something altogether more gnarly. “Let it be the question. Let it be your bones. Let it be your home. Get used to it,” they sing here, capturing a wilted sense of reflection, a kind of steely acceptance of ageing and growth that apparently veins its way through a number of tracks on the forthcoming record.
Buoyed by sparkling runs of guitar, and a breezy undercurrent to the whole thing which occasionally prickles at a deeply buried sense of melancholy, “Building Broke Steps” is as formidable and wholesome a chunk of guitar-pop as we’ve heard so far this year. Check it out below right away.
