Pree | Hooks & Eyes

by tom johnson

Ushering in their brand new, ten-track, album, ‘Hooks & Eyes‘ is the the new single from DC-quartet Pree and the first to be lifted from their much-anticipated new record which is released in May via Paper Garden Records. The ‘Rima‘ LP is the band’s first album in three years and will be accompanied by a string of live dates through February and March, including SXSW (full details here).

Let by the magnetic vocals flourishes of May Tabol, the track is effortlessly endearing, batting away any cobwebs with the pure pop-heart that leads it from the outset. Unraveling across five beautifully-adorned minutes, the track marries scintillating instrumentation with the kind of sparkling grace that can’t quite be placed but which underpins the entire piece. Drifting between loose moments of liberation and emphatically decisive hooks, it’s a spirited and jubilant return – and a much-needed one at that. Check it out below.
