As with everything that Japanese label flau release, there’s an exquisite sense of pace and intricate detailing in their latest release; a new two-track release from Same Waves, the tender new collaboration between Lindsay Anderson of L’altra and Telefon Tel Aviv and Hefty Records owner John Hughes, also known for his work with Slicker.
Having initially crossed paths some fifteen years ago, when Anderson worked with Telefon Tel Aviv, who appeared on Hughes’ Hefty label, the pair united here for an exquisite pair of songs, carefully pieced together, utilising both of their production skills to lay a poignant but playful bedrock for Anderson’s weightless voice to drift across.
Like a ready-mate soundtrack to late-night, mid-of-Winter, exploration, with aching lyrics about the road at night, of the desire to arrive, ‘My Way’ is a beautifully evocative, meandering piece of pop music that slowly, carefully, fills every crack of the surrounding space.
We’re very pleased to share the single’s lead-track today – you can check it out below right now.
