Sales 2016 self-titled effort remains on of that year’s (somewhat) hidden gems, a fluid, woozy, delightful offering of weightless pop music that seemed to reveal a little more with each passing listen. A year-and-a-bit on from that release, the band return this week with their first new music since, in the form of the suitably glowing “Talk A Lot”, a colourful new track released a few days ahead of their forthcoming U.S tour (full details below).
Still effortlessly cool in the way it delicately unravels, the new track is a sumptuous three-minutes, blending breathy, floaty vocals with a subtly enticing jazzy/poppy instrumental backdrop that lends the whole thing an air of mystical retreat, like finding a small nook of shade in the most sultry of city summers.
Fingers crossed this is the start of something even more formidable, for now, however, you can simply bask in the glow of Sales return; as simmering and special as always. Same as it ever was.
