New Music:

Roz & The Rice Cakes

“East Coast”

words by tom johnson

While their name might suggest some form of tomfoolery, the music of Roz & The Rice Cakes is anything but, emanating a considered charm that runs, beautifully, right through the heart of their work. Streaming below from today, new track “East Coast” kick-starts the campaign for the brand new album; with the Devotion LP being released later this year via Team Love’s ever-impressive roster of talent.

Actually the closing track on the forthcoming Devotion LP, “East Coast” – which we’re very pleased to premiere below from today, is a slow-burning moment of pop magic, all tempered vocals and a suitably swooning backdrop that drifts effortlessly behind. It’s that voice which lingers the longest however; the antiquated sheen of Roz Raskin’s words and intonations crafting a spellbinding three-and-a-half minutes, informed by the band’s new writing practices which found them “diving into a conceptual framework that explored the connections between humanity and the universe.”

A captivating sound from start-to-finish, and an intriguing lift-off for the new record, “East Coast” is both personal and packed with charm; a lingering glow that you can stream below right now.

Pre-order the Devotion LP here, via Team Love Records
