New Music:

Amy O

“History Walking”

words by tom johnson

“I’m just now figuring out how to represent myself, and I think a lot of that has to do with feminism – learning how to be loud and take over a room, when those are things I’ve been socialized not to do.”

Battling the tide from the inside out, Amy O’s forthcoming “Elastic” LP gives a forcible shove against the shackles of society with a collection of songs that positively hums with energy and direction; her most considered and infectious work to-date, ready to take over any room it finds itself in. Taking another bountiful leap towards its release, today sees the unveiling of the video for new track “History Walking” – a riotously fun sub-two minute burst of colour that sits as one of the standout moments on the aforementioned record.

Released in early August via Winspear (Hoops, Kevin Krauter), “Elastic” is the somewhat swift follow-up to 2016’s ‘Arrow’ LP and then wide-eyed rush of exuberance is perhaps its most formidable aspect, the whole thing tumbling forwards with a zeal that seems to harden with each passing moment. ‘History Walking’ is emblematic of such things, brash but never showy, vibrant but refined with just enough detail for it to actually matter, rather than simply exist as a short song on a great record.

Joined here by an inspired animated video, the whole thing makes for another endearing foreword to the new record – and you can check it out below right now.
