Much like Molly Nilsson, whose beautiful new track we covered earlier this week, MADEIRA has the ability of making even the most bountiful of electro-pop song sound like something far more weightier. Within the opening moments of brilliant new track ‘Manipulator‘ you can feel it; a clouded sense of vagueness that never departs despite the subtle, eminently pretty weave of the instrumentation that so dutifully follows her compelling vocals throughout.
Lifted from a new EP, her first for the ever-brilliant Carpark Records, the former Yumi Zouma star follows similarly tropical pathways as that project here, shaping the track in to something akin to the most dreamy of summer nights, one where the glow of the day is imbued with a sense of quiet reflection that hangs like a stubborn shadow around it all. For all of this poignancy though, the track is also wonderfully bright; a soothing mediation that might well lift you out of whatever slump you might currently find yourself buried within. The five-track EP is released in September; stream the new track below.
‘Bad Humors’ is out September 23rd on Carpark
