Luxury Death are the closest thing to a perfect lo-fi, nihilistic boy/girl duo out there.
If that sounds a bit niche, then imagine the challenge match.com might have had putting these two together. Debut track ‘Radiator Face’ is like pure gold melting at 1,064 °C; the heat is overwhelming, but there’s something alluring about its precious, deadly dripping mess. And, while outwardly it glows and shines, there’s something else, much darker, burning deep inside.
“I hear your screaming under your breath, baby you deserve a luxury death”
Formerly of Nai Harvest, Ben Thompson & partner Meg Williams started the Manchester-based project as “something else to do in the bedroom together”. Transcending its original brief, the band developed an identity all of its own, churning out slightly destructive and haunting lo-fi sounds, influenced by the knowledge that “one day you are going to die”.
With more tracks promised to follow this Autumn, it’s time to get acquainted with this dark duo, below.
‘Radiator Face’ is set to be followed by a second single in September,
with a debut EP due this winter on PNKSLM.
