It’s been a long while since we first covered Lowpines, the soft acoustic project from Oli Deakin, but his name jumped back on to these pages earlier this year with a production credit on this exquisite track from Julia Kwamya’s Brooklyn-based Germans project. A far cry from his own work, Deakin has seemingly absorbed certain elements of his work there and channeled it in to his own craft, with brand new track ‘We Come Right‘ offering something altogether more alluring than his more tender previous work.
Still heavy-hearted and tender, but with a more pronounced pop glimmer, the new track, which is premiering below, is a beautiful moment of poignancy, little dashes of piano, a steady drum beat, adding to his own whispered and wilting voice that has always played such a pivotal role in his work.
Taken from new album ‘In Silver Halides’, which is set for release in February via Adventure Club Records, ‘We Come Right’ is a weighty and wonderful introduction; stirring sentiments drifting off in to the night, like thoughts we can’t keep hold of. Listen below right now.
