Blending richly layered textural vocal samples with moments of atmospheric scarcity; “Pushin’” is the latest track set to be released by GRIP TIGHT (the moniker of English Berlin-based producer Benjamin Gregory) following on from the wave of success of his last single, ‘Get To Know’, that we premiered in the summer of this year.
A seemingly natural progression from “Get To Know”, which features KBY of Peggy Sue and Deep Throat Choir, “Pushin’” sees a similarly somber tone with Gregory’s vocal centerpiece juxtaposing Martha Rose’s (Treibender Teppich Records) undulating and warm backing vocals to produce a darkly emotive and abundant lushness, resulting in a distinctive and unique sound as the track evolves and develops, introducing different elements throughout.
With another strong release under the GRIP TIGHT name, this particular brand of darkly stylized synth R&B remains captivatingly listenable and we’re pleased to be premiering “Pushin”’ today.
“Pushin’” is released on January 19, via Musclemilk Records
GRIP TIGHT plays The Shacklewell Arms, London on Saturday December 2
