Orange Gold Red | Wayward
by Lior Phillips
The new track from Orange Gold Red is as colourful as its title suggests. The full-bodied sound means the softer side of ‘Wayward’’s vocals gets fleshier as the track progresses. The song’s delicate, interwoven synth and strings arrangement plays a big role in making the experience of listening, a lovely respite from a potentially maddening day. It’s called dream-pop for a reason because there is no plausible logic as to why adults would go and lie about on the grass for hours listening to a song of this nature – and this track manages to give a voice to those feelings. A full-length album is currently in the works, and this two-track release (Wayward is backed by another new track, Riptides) acts as something of a stop-gap until its release. It’s subtly addictive and you can stream it below.
