Let’s Buy Happiness | Run

by Tom Johnson

We’ve come a long way since we named Six Wolves by Let’s Buy Happiness as our single favourite song of 2011, but our love for that perfect piece of indie-pop remains just as strong. Just as this site has grown, so to have the Geordie quartet and we can finally rejoice in the news that a debut album is on the way. The record will go by the name of Chants For Friends, and the band have revealed a brand new track from it in celebration of the news.

Run‘ introduces itself with a quietened acoustic strum, the track blossoms into something far more weightier and emotive than we’ve heard from them before. The level of restraint is glorious, producing a dense and richly orchestrated web of guitars that provide the perfect base for Sarah Hall’s stirring voice to demand the spotlight and deliver one of the years most impassioned pop songs. Still growing, still going strong, still completely fascinating; welcome back.
