The subterranean emanations of Julia Lucille’s enchanting new record displays the immediate profundity to the Texas natives enveloping music, an energy that wraps you in a story of life’s falls and finding absolution. Introduced as Chthonic, the suitably titled record is set for release with Keeled Scales in April, and has been preceded by the sharing of it’s first single, the wonderfully kinetic “I Don’t Think I Can“.
Set amongst resounding steel guitars and pealing drums, Lucille occupies the space around her whilst able to evoke tangible room for evocative feeling, the depth of her stirring voice enveloping the room within a comforting fort for just you and her to share. Her passion is unequivocal as the barrier falls – “the pain came flooding” – and you are left overcome by a single voice handing their heart over to you to examine the breaks.
A stirring first impression from Julia Lucille’s new record, you can listen to ‘I Don’t Think I Can’ from today. The new album, ‘Chthonic’, is available from April 7th via Keeled Scales – you can pre-order it here. Lucille is playing Molly Burch’s album release show in Austin, Texas with Cross Record on February 18th.
