Wrapped in a swirl of aching guitars, “Sunken Tree” is another beautiful moment of discovery from the fast-approaching new record from James Smith. His Good Good Blood moniker has already crafted a number of fleeting guitar-pop gems, but his latest track might well be his most captivating to-date.
While the new record, which is released this coming Friday via Team Love Records, delves in to more immediate and urgent moments (think Alex G but dropped in to the English countryside) here Smith sounds achingly contemplative, the beautifully detailed four-minutes telling the story of his own issues and the way that they interact with the world around him, all told within a hypnotic blend of swooning, cracked vocals and a compelling atmosphere that hangs like an unexpected blanket of heat on some long lost summer’s day.
Another special moment from an increasingly special record, you can stream the track below and pre-order the new album, via Bandcamp, right here.
