The opening track on the new Bent Denim EP, “All My Friends Are Dead” is as burned-out as downcast as you might expect, however, as with all of the band’s finest work, the whole thing is haloed with a sonic sense of adventure that lends the track a glowing earnestness that feels wildly compelling.
Premiering below from today, the duo’s latest track is taken from their forthcoming Diamond Jubilee EP, and follows in the footsteps of lead track “Miss You, Kid” which premiered over on Stereogum last month. A somewhat scorched undertaking, “All My Friends Are Dead” is the kind of track that you wished last for far longer than the two-minutes it sticks around for; two minutes that fade out almost as quickly as they take focus.
Like flustered thoughts spilling out in to the world in some deep, rotten, middle-of-the-night hour, the track is hazy stirring of the waters, a moment of restraint before the whole thing collapses in on itself. The full EP arrives on May 12th; stream “All My Friends Are Dead” right here:
