As one-third of Au Revoir Simone, Annie Hart has helped to craft some of the most lasting and endearing electropop songs of the past decade or so, and she’s now announced that she’s going it alone with the release of debut album Impossible Accomplice later this summer on the Cryptic Whispers label.
Recorded on “classic synthesisers” in the basement of her Brooklyn home, the record is preceded today by the release of lead track “Hard To Be Still”, a wonderfully solid and floral three-minutes that immediately engages. Underpinned by a wave of buzzy synths, the track is sparked in to life by a run of solid percussion and the suitably soothing lead voice that is as glowing and endearing as you might be expecting, lending the whole piece a air of subtle romanticism that cuts a little deeper with each listen.
