If London songstress WALL is feeling any kind of pressure on her shoulders -what, with all the ‘sound of 2013’ attention that came her way over the last few months – then she’s showing absolutely no sign of it. The title track from her forthcoming debut EP is another gorgeous ballad that tugs at the chest and prickles the skin. The lofi backdrop is perfectly balanced but it’s the hypnotic, breathy vocals that once again steal the show, casting a spell over the listener from start to finish. For its entirety, Shoestring hangs by a tether, feeling like it could all just break at any given second. Luckily for us, it doesn’t; it simply soars. In its own restrained and dignified way of course.
