In last year’s introducing feature on these very pages, Trevor Elkin called Soccer Mommy “the real deal”. At that point Sophie Allison was a bedroom-producing, self-releasing prodigy, so it’s with visceral excitement that she’s announced her first proper label release, Collection, which will be released on August 4th via Fat Possum Records.
Still only nineteen years old, the Nashville native, NYU student, has shared new track “Out Worn” in anticipation of said release, and it’s every bit as worn and wonderful as we’ve come to expect. “I’m sick of living in the eye of a storm / I want to feel that I’m being admired” Allison pines as the song swells beautifully through its forceful centre-piece. Wholesome, poignant, and packing a punch that will ache for far longer than the track’s four-and-a-half minutes, “Out Worn” is a marvellous next-step – and you can stream it below right now.
