Never judge a book by its cover and never judge an artist by their…moniker? Ok, it doesn’t quite work but you get my point. I was all set to hate Deptford Goth based on the recording name, and the album title¬†too come to think of it (‘Life After Defo‘), but whaddyaknow, this is rather marvelous indeed. The album is out on March 18th and after only a couple of listens we’ve been completely sucked in to its subtle and deft surroundings. Daniel Woolhouse’s emotionally-tinged, plaintive vocal drifts across measured XX-style vibes and produces one of the years great finds. Yes, already. Check out the video to lead track Union below;
